Customer Review Best Customer Review : Installed a pair at the rear of my sailboat on the radar arch. Great sounds. With XM radio (digital) I found myself looking for the alarm that was going off. It was music inaudible with other speakers I've owned for the last 50 years. But it was a great vacation on the boat this month, and these speakers added to the fun. Customer Review 1 : Sound great - Dave - Gilbert, AZ For the price, you can't beat 'em. I bought refurbished ones and they arrived quickly and in new condition. Easy to set up and sound great. Customer Review 2 : Ok speakers for the price - PanicInTheStreets - Denver, CO These speakers are ok, not great. They don't have good bass response and sound a little "tinny" if that's a technical term. They just don't wow you. The mounting kit was great. We'll see how they last in the Colorado weather. For the money, I'd probably step up to the Polk outdoor speakers. I have them in my home theater and have always loved them. Should have gone with my gut and spent a little more. |

Yamaha YSP-3000BL Digital Sound Projector (Black) Features
Yamaha YSP-3000BL Digital Sound Projector (Black) Overviews The New YSP-3000 offers great new features such as 1080p-compatiable HDMI, iPod compatibility and wide variety of beam settings including My Surround for true multi-channel surround sound enjoyment from a single component. The YSP-3000 applies the Digital Sound Projector technology to precisely control the orientation of the sound by focusing it through multiple beams. The center channel sound is heard directly, while sounds from other channels are heard after reflecting off walls. The result is true multi-channel surround sound that sounds just like a multi-speaker system ¿ but without the need for extra speakers! As amazing as it seems, the YSP-3000 can actually deliver multi-channel sound that surrounds listeners the same way that sound from front, center and rear speakers does. DVD movies and other digital sources sound just the way they are supposed to. Dolby Pro Logic II is included, so even 2-channel TV's sound can be heard in true multi-channel surround. Its elegant space-saving design avoids the need of numerous speakers and cables. It can be wall mounted or placed on a shelf or rack. . It powers the 21 beam drivers at 2W each and the two woofers at 20W each, for a total of 82W of power. There is no need for the customer to purchase an additional amplifier or receiver, so the system is compact and economical. Related Products
Customer Review Best Customer Review : When I first heard about the Digital Sound Projector from Yamaha I thought it would be a prefect solution for my family room where I do not (or cannot) run the cables to hook up rear (L/R) speakers. I pre-ordered YSP-3000 from Amazon in September 2007. I have the YSP-3000 hooked up in my family room for more than a week now, here is the list of good and bad about the device: The good: - Excellent sound quality with Dolby Digital 5.1 supported sources such as my digital cable box (via HDMI interface/cable). - Setup is easy. You ran Intelibeam from the device; in less than 20 mins you got a customized sound projecting environment. You can always tweak the settings manually but I found the auto-setting works just fine. - YSP-3000 also functions as HDMI switch (1 output, 2 inputs) where you can switch audio/video between DVD player and cable TV without selecting input source from your TV set. That is, connect the output HDMI port off YSP-3000 to your TV, then connect your cable box and DVD players to YSP-3000. You only need to use the YSP-3000 remote to choose between DVD and cable box. The bad: Here is my biggest problem with YSP-3000. It does NOT support newer version of Dolby Digital TrueHD, nor Dolby Digital Plus off the box!! I hooked up a Toshiba HD DVD player (model# HD-A30), and guess what, my audio channel on YSP-3000 became 2-channel stereo instead of 5.1. To by pass this problem, I had to hook-up my DVD player using optical audio connection as oppose to HDMI, and change the video output from HDMI to component video output. By doing so, I no longer can switch between DVD and cable using YSP-3000, and (in theory) receiving less quality image because I cannot use HDMI for my DVD. I contacted Yamaha support, I was told that YSP-3000 does not indeed support Dolby Digital TrueHD nor Dobly Digital Plus, which have became the standard audio format for every HD DVD movie shipped out there. My Toshiba HD DVD player only offers three choices of audio output 1) AUTO (which is the one I am using, and it is recommend for digital sound), 2) PCM (which is 2-chanael, not 5.1 with surround sound, and 3) Downmix PCM, which is also 2-channel instead of 5.1. So I have the latest Digital Sound Projector (YSP-3000), with latest HD DVD player (Toshiba HD-A30), with latest HD-DVD movies yet I cannot enjoy 5.1 sound environment without downgrading my video output from HDMI to component. That's a shame. I hope there will be a firmware upgrade in the future with either Yamaha or Toshiba devices (by the way, I already updated the firmware on Toshiba HD DVD player to v1.1, which is the latest as to date) to provide support of DD+, or DD TrueHD. Customer Review 1 : Pretty Much What I Expected - Mikhal - Six months ago I bought a Sony S-Air wireless surround w/blu-ray, a total POS! If this soundbar hadn't been priced at ,000 then it would've been my 1st choice, Anyway, this system gives what I expected (I've got doorways/windows/drapes for interference)a roomful of sound, even tho' not really surround. Got the Yamaha sub-woofer free. One complaint, remote was non-op and I had to return to Yamaha, on my dime, before I could set up system. 10 day delay, Amazon no help! BTW, hooked up with an LG 390 Blu-Ray DVD player (worth every $$). Customer Review 2 : Great product but some oddities - Philip J. Mayo - Santa Clara, CA I am still playing with many of the features but already there are some oddities that may give buyers pause. Tuning FM stations and setting preset is done oddly from the supplied remote. I cannot even begin to describe it. It is not at all intuitive. The remote allows you to control a TV and another AV device but is very limited. For example, changing the input source on my Samsung LCD TV requires selecting enter after you scroll through a list of sources. The TV controls provided on the remote include only a few TV control buttons, none which are enter or select, so I can bring up and scroll through the source list but I cannot close it. I am still switching between remotes. This is of course a mix of Samsung and Yamaha oddities. There is no system connection terminal port to support the YST-FSW050 subwoofer being promotionally offered with the YSP-3000. There is no system control port at all. Odd with the YSP-3000 acting an AV receiver substitute. The height is just a bit too high for placing it on the same surface with many LCD televisions. I know the technology may be the limiter, but there could have been some effort to shorten the height to accomodate most of the televisions being sold. All the connections except the HDMI connections face down. The gap provided for connectors is not always ideal. I have had to substitute my Monster Toslink cables with more generic cables because the terminator on the Monster cables are too long to fit underneath. I could see other cable terminations suffering a similar limit. They provided a stick-on cable clip but no suggestions on best placement. I put mine in a spot I thought ideal and discovered after it would have been better rotated 90 degrees. Unfortunately the tack on the stick-on is so high, I cannot even attempt to remove it without tools. I may discover more oddities as I go, but I thought I'd let you know there are oddities to consider. Yamaha makes a solid product but then controlling, configuring, and placing the product may frustrate many. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : I am new to the HTiB setups. This was an excellent buy. The speakers all fairly small. I think they are as small as you can get actually. I paid 15% less than what's advertised, if you look around on bing. I noticed a lot of HTiB at this price range feature lots of power, but the power is fairly dirty, this is rated at a .06%, while others like Sony HTS3660, are rated at 10%. That's a significant difference in Total Harmonic Distortion. Also, in this price range, it's nice to see that the satellite speakers are have both a 2.5in woofer, and a .5in tweeter. You can actually hear the difference in the highs, and high mids. The Onkyo THD is rated at .01%. So if you are looking around, try bing and Tiger... The subwoofer was pumping. Considering that it's only 8in woofer, it's not too bad. At about -22db the system was clean and accurate. I wouldn't try to push this too much. After all, the woofers are only 2.5in. Also the system utilizes various components, that can be upgraded if you so incline. The subwoofer model is YST-SW012, and the receiver is HTR-6230BL. So you can upgrade the pieces whenever you like, and no propriety connections throughout the HTiB. The major crux with this system is that the receiver does not pass audio through the HDMI. I had to hook-up my optical cable from my PS3 directly to the receiver. I also hooked up the PS3 directly to the TV. That way I don't need an additional HDMI. Keep in mind that the Onkyos' at this price range also do not pass audio through the HDMI. Considering, I have a home studio, and make electronic music, this stuff was fairly simple, but I think if you're not technically inclined, and hoping that the system will set itself up, it won't magically do so. You will NEED an optical cable. It took about 2 hours to connect, but it was worth it. I watched some previews and it really shined once it detected the Dolby Digital format from the PS3. I felt like I was at the theatres. For about two-fifty from td with bing, that's really not a bad buy. Low WAF, btw. Customer Review 2 : Great System - J. Mireles - El Paso, Texas This surround sound home theater system does its job. The only bad thing I have for this system is the HDMI cable not being audio compatible. Having a ps3 I connected an HDMI for video and component cables for sound... nonetheless the system still sounds great and the picture looks perfect. I have had no other issues with this system. |

With the THX Select-certified HTR-5790 you get the convenience of DVD-Audio/SACD-ready six-channel analog inputs alongside the latest 6.1- and 7.1-channel surround processing, multiroom control, and premium Yamaha sound technologies. When hooked up with the digital-audio output from a DVD-Video player or digital satellite receiver, the 110 watts-per-channel HTR-5790 handles 5.1-channel surround decoding for both major formats, Dolby Digital and DTS. In addition, the receiver processes Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1, DTS Neo:6, and DTS 96/24. The extended-surround formats create even more expansive soundfields through a center-rear surround channel, for which THX suggests using two separate speakers. The result is seven discrete full-range channels in addition to the LFE (low-frequency effects) channel: front left/right, surround left/right, front center channel, and a pair of rear-center channels. A key benefit from a Yamaha receiver, of course, is Yamaha's proprietary signal processing, including Cinema DSP (digital soundfield processing), which creates aural "imaging" that not only makes your home sound like a theater, but also sounds better than most movie theaters. Based on a wealth of measured data in real studios and halls, Cinema DSP is designed to bring out the full potential of movie sound mixes, reproducing them the way directors and sound engineers intended. And, when you're listening to multichannel presentations late at night, you'll appreciate Silent Cinema, which simulates 5.1-channel listening through a pair of ordinary 2-channel headphones (not included). Silent Cinema uses unique parameters for each soundfield to ensure accurate headphone representations of each soundfield. The receiver comes outfitted with YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) and a dedicated microphone to help you establish the best possible sound at your primary listening position. The optimizer uses the microphone to "listen" to the sound from the speakers and determine, based on its test-signals, how best to equalize the sound for your room. Corrections include speaker/subwoofer phase relationships, speaker/subwoofer distance measurements (corrects for differences down to 5 cm), frequency response (measures and optimizes each speaker's response using a parametric equalizer), and speaker level (measures and aligns the relative volume levels of all speakers). Then there's the six-channel DVD-Audio/SACD-ready inputs mentioned above. Due to anti-piracy measures, DVD-Audio and SACD players perform their own digital-to-analog conversion, passing high-resolution analog signals on to your amplifier. (And analog, after all, is what your amp feeds your speakers.) DVD-Audio and SACD can each deliver up to six channels of discrete, full-frequency sound at greater-than-CD resolution (in the case of DVD-A, that means 24 bits, 96 kHz sampling rate versus 16 bits, 44.1 kHz for CD). In stereo or surround, the sound from DVD-Audio and SACD is packed with detail, yet smoother and sweeter from than the sound from even the best standard CD players. The HTR-5790 accommodates decoded DVD-A/SACD signals and routes them to the appropriate speakers in your surround system. The receiver offers seven audio/video input connections (all with composite-/S-video), eight fixed and assignable digital-audio inputs (great for DSS, CD, laserdisc, gaming consoles, or minidisc), and front-panel input connections with digital-audio jacks for your camcorder or other spontaneous hookup. The receiver's video circuitry is high-definition ready, too (60 MHz bandwidth), and it will upconvert composite- and S-video signals to component-video to simplify TV hookup. Custom-installation features include multi-sourced zone 2 and zone 3 audio outputs, an assignable +12V trigger output, main/zone 2/zone 3 independent power control command, an IR blaster port, extended IR code compatibility, and zone 2 speaker output. Last, but certainly not least, the HTR-5790 benefits from Yamaha's Direct ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) build philosophy. The culmination of the best digital engineering and design possible, it brings together several key elements to create the best-sounding, easiest-to-use A/V components available. What's in the Box |

Yamaha YST-SW45 8" Subwoofer Features
Yamaha YST-SW45 8" Subwoofer Overviews Yamaha's Advanced Active Servo Technology employed in this subwoofer is a complementary amplifier/speaker system utilizing negative impedance feedback in the amp and a Helmholtz resonator in the speaker to provide strong and accurate bass from small speakers. The subwoofer is magnetically shielded so it can be placed near a TV monitor or receiver without fear that it will degrade the picture. The user adjustable continuously variable high-cut filter sets the highest frequency the subwoofer will deliver. It can be set anywhere from 50 to 150 Hz. For instance, if the filter is set at 75 Hz, only frequencies 75 Hz or below will be delivered by the subwoofer. This allows the sub's output to be matched to the other speakers in the system and the room's acoustics for a seamless presentation. The volume control permits the perfect matching of the sub's output to the overall volume of the system. For convenience, the YST-SW45 has a signal sensing circuit. When the subwoofer detects an audio signal, it turns its power on. When it senses no signal for several minutes, it shuts itself off. The subwoofer can be oriented either vertically or horizontally, making placement within the room easy. Yamaha's three-way speaker terminals accept banana plugs and a variety of other connectors, as well as speaker wire. Yamaha YST-SW45 8" Subwoofer Specifications Add bass to your music and spice to your life with Yamaha's YST-SW45 active subwoofer, a compact and affordable way to increase your enjoyment of music, movies, and even computer audio. With a 70-watt built-in amplifier, line-level inputs, high-quality five-way binding-post speaker inputs and outputs, plus an auto-on standby circuit, volume level, and adjustable crossover (see FAQ for more info), the YST-SW45 is about as flexible as they come. Setup was a snap--we were able to dial in just the right amount of bass and the correct crossover point within minutes. And its manageable size makes the YST-SW45 easy to place; you can tuck it into a corner, next to a sofa, or even under a desk. Besides being flexible, the YST-SW45 is also a fine performer, thanks to Yamaha's long-throw 8-inch woofer and active-servo technology, which tracks the movement of the driver and matches it to the incoming signal, correcting any perceived errors (or distortion). In addition, the front-firing bass port effectively increases the speaker's sensitivity and bass output, delivering very good definition with a decent punch and a good sense of low-end body. But we must take issue with Yamaha's frequency-response rating, which is inflated because the stated 30 to 200 Hz performance is measured at -10 dB, rather than the standard -3 dB. In other words, at 30 Hz (or cycles per second)--very deep bass indeed--the YST-SW45 does have measurable output, but it's 10 decibels below its average output at, say, 60 Hz. Our test tones indicate that the YST-SW45's -3 dB point is around 42 Hz, which is still quite good, but not subterranean. Compact, flexible, and well made, with a more-than-respectable if not explosive bass output, Yamaha's YST-SW45 is a fine, small active subwoofer. Unless you have a huge room or love bass to rattle your cage, it will nicely fill out the sound of any compact speaker or home theater rig. --Wayne Garcia Pros:
Cons:
Customer Review 1 : Not actually a SUBwoofer... - David Johnson - Williams Bay, WI The most appealing aspects of this so-called subwoofer are price and size. It has a switchable auto on feature, a nice set of input options including 5-way binding posts, or RCA connectors. The subwoofer crossover and volume controls are conveniently mounted on the front of the subwoofer, and it's 8-inch front firing driver does a commendable job (given its size) at supplying some bass to a system consisting mostly of satellite-sized speakers. When placed in a corner and callibrated properly, this little subwoofer is capable of occassionally producing excellent bass sounds, especially with movies. However, this subwoofer distorts easily at moderate volumes, especially with movies containing extremely deep bass. The Yamaha's response time with music is also on the slow side. You won't be shaking your house too much with your favorite hip-hop albums on this subwoofer. The Yamaha YST-SW45 is a decently priced subwoofer designed to be mated with incredibly small satellite speakers. If you really craving DEEP bass, you should look elsewhere. If you simply want a subwoofer for a small sized room for a small-sized home theater, then this is a very affordable solution. So affordable in fact, that you should take Yamaha's advice and get two of these subwoofers for the best possible imaging and sound-field dispersion. In all reality, this sub is a waste of the technology... It is known throughout the industry that low end drivers--woofers, if you will--from the size of ten inches down are the most accurate...atleast decently built ones... So in reality the eight inch driver--unless Yamaha is admitting that it is a cheap driver--in this component is lacking power handling. I feel as thoug this sub should only be used in rooms that are comparable to closets. My wife feels as though it is ok...well atleast she FELT that way until I went and bought the KLH 10" 120 Watt sub. Now I know that these two products are incomparable, but, for the same price it is truly worth mentioning (you think???) ... I gave it three stars because it is small. VERY small. And because I am a nice guy--I guess...:) ,,,and then there is always that chance that I bought a defective unit... :-) So... In closing, if you are looking for a good sub and have the money--don't buy this...hell...I can't see why anyone would buy this unless it is all that the WORLD has to offer... Bad BAD Yamaha... I'm gonna purchase the dual sub 200-Watt version some time this year...only because my KLHs (I have two now) are in storage (long story...they still work fine though)...and because I have heard this unit, and it is very impressive... Happy searching!!! Gen |

Yamaha RX-V365BL 500 Watt 5-Channel Home Theater Receiver Overviews Yamaha RX-V365BL 500 Watt 5-Channel Home Theater Receiver Related Products
Customer Review Best Customer Review : I'm not an audiophile, but enjoy watching movies with my family, listening to all kinds of music and playing both Xbox and Wii. I purchased the Yamaha RX-V365BL 500 Watt 5-Channel Home Theater Receiver to upgrade my 8 year old Sony 'theater in a box' set-up, after reading several reviews on it. I did note that the HDMI inputs on the receiver do not carry audio - only video. Incorrectly thinking that this wouldn't really be an issue I bought it anyway and these are my impressions regarding that issue and a couple others. SETUP Getting it out of the box is easy, reading the manual and applying it to your set-up is the challenge! The manual that comes with the receiver (also available on the Yamaha website in a PDF file) was not terribly clear, at least not for me. I ended up on the Monster cables website where they have a home theater set-up helper (diagrams) that helped a lot to simply figure out what cables I needed to go buy to adjust for the lack of audio being filtered through the HDMI cables. To get my set-up working as I wanted it to, it literally took me 2 days of tweaking and changing wires around. Mind you I've done this before, and consider myself somewhat 'mechanical', having set-up many computers and other electronics previously. My electronic components I wanted to sync with the receiver included: an Xbox, Wii, plasma hdtv, upconverting dvd player, and a vhs player. It shouldn't have been tough, but it was because of the 'audio' inputs/outputs and HDMI issue. Before you begin your set-up I suggest you have on hand a flashlight and any cables you may need like a Belkin AV20000-06 PureAV Digital Optical Cable (6-Feet) or a Belkin PureAV AV20500-25 25-Foot Subwoofer Audio Cable, to save yourself some time and grief. I also found these to be very helpful in cable management: Belkin F8B024 8-Inch Velcro Cable Ties, and purchased a Belkin 12-Outlet Home/Office Surge Protector with Phone/Ethernet/Coaxial Protection and Extended Cord to plug in all the home theater components and protect them from surges in the power. I also suggest you evaluate each component you're going to be filtering through the Yamaha receiver and figure out where you'll be connecting them. I found that one of my components worked better being hooked up and filtered through my hdtv versus the AV receiver. HEAT and WEIGHT The receiver is a standard size and should fit easily into a home theater component rack, but the vents on the top are there for a reason - the receiver gives off a quite a bit of heat! You won't want to place another component on top of the receiver or have it in an enclosed space without proper ventilation. It's also quite weighty, so make sure it's on a surface that's built to support its weight. SHORTCOMINGS While this receiver is powerful and the price is right, there are some issues that may be a deal-breaker for some. These were the issues I had to weigh before making my purchase. 1. The HDMI inputs on the back of the receiver only carry video, not audio signals. HDMI is known for its superior ability to carry both signals so this is a curiosity to me. I had to go buy two cables: a Belkin AV20000-06 PureAV Digital Optical Cable (6-Feet) and a Belkin PureAV RCA Audio Cable 6 ft to connect my dvd player and TV to the receiver AND get sound filtered through the receiver. 2. Speaker connections on the back of the receiver do not all accept GLS Audio Black Chrome Series Gold Connector Banana Plugs - 20 Pack (10 Reds & 10 Blacks). Now this may seem a bit nit picky, but if you want the best, most secure connection for your speaker wire, this is the way to go. The receiver allows for the front 2 speakers to be connected this way and filtered through my Klipsch KSW-10 10-Inch 225 Watt Subwoofer (Black), but they are not available for all the speakers. On the higher end Yamaha receivers, all of the connections are banana plug compatible. 3. Set-up was tough. I found that the 'basic set-up' for the receiver (via the remote) would only take me so far and that troubleshooting was minimally helpful. This may be with all AV receiver set-ups, but it would have been helpful if this unit had shipped with a 1-2 page, easy-set-up guide and/or an online video. 4. The remote has small buttons and would be tough to use if you have big fingers. It also REALLY needs back-lighting! 5. No hook-up for a turntable. You can buy a Pyle PP-999 Phono Turntable Pre-Amp and use the CD hook-ups though, and you can re-name inputs that appear on the screen. Hook-ups in general are limited, as is the speaker set-up with 5.1 versus 7.1, which simply means limited upgrade-ability to your system in the future. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT "The sound." I feel like I'm hearing things I completely missed with the older set-up. The upgraded home theater experience I was looking for has been achieved! "Music Enhancer" mode seems to work the best for me in combination with the Dolby Digital sound. Tweaking the speaker settings for the room was essential, but once I got the right blend - it was fantastic! I paired this receiver with Klipsch's Quintet III speakers and their 10" subwoofer. All of it for about 0, with a sound and power worth twice the price. Many 'tweaks' to the sound are possible via the settings on the receiver. READ the manual and refer to it as you make your settings. It is highly customizable with 4 buttons on the front of the receiver that you can set-up with whatever sound settings you like - for easy change overs. The remote is lightweight and works well. NOTE: You can also get a free app on iTunes that allows you to use your iPod Touch or iPhone as a remote! The receiver is Bluetooth ready and has an optional port for the Yamaha YDS-11SL Universal iPod Dock for Select Yamaha Home Theater Receivers. You will only get 2-channel sound when playing tunes from your iPod, but it's a great addition to the system. CONCLUSION Price, power, and Yamaha quality sell this AV receiver. The limited input options with the lack of HDMI audio out and the 5.1 versus 7.1 make this a lower end choice in a receiver, but for the money this receiver is a solid choice for a home theater AV receiver with great sound quality coming from a trusted brand. Isn't that the point? I'd recommend it to anyone wants a quality home theater experience for minimal cost, and who doesn't mind using other audio cables to offset the lack of audio signal through the HDMI ports. Well made, works out of the box, xlnt THX audio, xlnt separation, xlnt surround. Cons: Setup sucks. The owners manual sucks as its hard to follow. Heck, I have reviewed and proofed hundreds of technical manuals over my career and this one really sucks. You get to step 6 out of 10 and the setting does not exist! Lots of fumbling around with hits & misses. Well step 6 in the last chapter is now step 3 two chapters following. By saying the rcvr is over engineered is stating it mildly. Everything is software adjusted. eg; to adjust my rear speaker volume levels, I have to wade through a gazillion steps in order to get there. And, if I miss a step I start over. Am I on the phone calling a company going through their phone tree nightmare??? Heck, you cannot make any adjustments on the fly, not even setting FM presets. This is a set it and forget it receiver! Has two THX inputs; one is DTV/CBL, the other CD. Huh? THX for CD and not DVD? Duh! So when I watch Blu-Ray THX DVD's, I push the CD button on the remote. How stupid is this? Would I buy Yamaha again? Not if their products are engineered like this. Don't get me wrong, if you are the "set it and forget it" type you will be most happy with this receiver. Others, like me, who continually adjust to suite the input mode will hate it. |

Customer Review Best Customer Review : I install whatever people want though if they ask my recommendation it would not be Yamaha speakers for either value or performance. For in-ceiling speakers I recommend people get the best they can afford even if it is a stretch as this is not something you want to replace a year later. Ceiling speakers depend heavily on an efficient enclosure behind the speaker for performance and yet there is limited space for a backer box in a ceiling or wall so whatever is put in is going to be a compromise. A separate subwoofer helps the overall sound from these speakers immensely even if it is driven off the same amp. It is not realistic to expect great bass from an in-ceiling speaker. Good idea to have a separate gain control for these speakers so they are not over-driven when pumping up the bass. These mounted quite easily and making the holes is never a problem since we discovered the Hole Pro adjustable hole cutters with their high speed steel (for tongue and groove ceilings) and tungsten carbide (for sheetrock and plaster) blades. We set the depth for 3/4" and don't need to worry about cutting wiring or a pipe hidden behind the drywall. They are really good for plaster with its double layers that crack easily and the cracks are very expensive to repair and then their is the need to repaint the ceiling. The shield collect all the dust and hold the piece cut from the ceiling until we are back down the ladder. We don't even use drop cloths or have to move furniture since we started using the Hole Pro hole cutters. Hole Pro X-305 Kit 1-7/8" to 12" infinitely adjustable twin blade Tungsten Carbide Hole Saw Cutter 6" 7" 8" 9" 10" 11" 12" holes in wood drywall plaster fiberglass OSB cement board- Use ¼ torque of hole saws and cut twice as fast Oddly enough 8 inch in-ceiling speaker can need a cutout as large as 11-1/2 inches so we like that the X-305 Hole Pro hole cutter can go from 2" all the way to 12" and cut whatever size hole we need. Customer Review 1 : one problem - A. donato - The speakers themselves sound good. My beef is the way they look. This is for my living room so I was looking for something discrete. Unfortunately the covers are shaped like muffin tops. Looks like my ceiling is a haven for pods. I bought a different brand for my kitchen that are truly flush Customer Review 2 : Great Speakers - Mr. Ed - SLC, Utah Recieved this shipment fast and in great condition. UPS Rocks! The speakers were easy to install, first class sound. For the price, you cannot buy anything better! |
