Yamaha DVD5750 Progressive Scan DVD Player Specifications

The factory-reconditioned single-disc DV-S5750 lets you watch DVDs, listen to CDs and even view digital photos right on your TV. It also plays DivX-formatted movies that you burn to discs--allowing you to burn up to 5 full movies on DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW media. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

With its high-resolution filter the 10-bit video D/A converter delivers faster video signal processing for enhanced picture quality, minimizing digital artifacts. It also offers 24-bit/96kHz PCM audio compatibility for excellent audio playback. The parallel audio/video output lets you connect the DVD player via Composite, S-Video and/or Component Video and Audio outputs, to watch and listen simultaneously from each connected device. This feature is ideal for multi-room applications and facilitates connection of your DVD-Video player.

Audio enhancements consist of an audio-direct switch and CD upsampling playback (to an incredible 1,764 kHz) to give you the best-possible sound quality from your standard audio CDs. MP3 features include the ability to play multisession discs and mixed-format MP3/JPEG CDs. It's also compatible with WMA audio.

Other features include:

  • Multiangle (9), multiaspect and multisubtitle capabilities
  • Child lock function (DVD and VCD) and parental lock function (DVD only) to prevent children from seeing unwanted material
  • Digital picture zoom lets you select an area of the picture and magnify it, or increase the viewable screen area for letterbox films
  • 5-disc memory
  • Program play, sleep functions, CD Text display, screen saver
  • Outputs: 1 coaxial digital audio, 1 composite video, 1 S-video, 1 component video, 1 optical digital audio, 1 RCA audio (L/R)

Customer Review

Best Customer Review : I bought this unit at Best Buy in San Francisco almost a month ago and WOW!Thank you Macrohn for your review of this product at Amazon. This player saved my life.

This unit surpasses my older TOSHIBA model SD-3750, although the Toshiba was great for the time I bought it(yes, the Toshiba lasted this long, about 5 years and still going.), the YAMAHA DVS 5750 plays all the dvds that I had some problems with playing on the Toshiba and Sony Players. Some import dvds from Asia would skip or freeze in my other players, but on the Yamaha, I never experienced the same problems even when my other units were new. This is a must for me since I buy a lot of IMPORTED Asian dvds. Also, this unit converts PAL to NTSC!! Plus, it can be converted to a multi-region player.

Picture quality far surpasses my expectations, I hooked it up to my Sony HDTV and to my Sony audio receiver hooked up by Component video and fiber optic cables and I was blown away! Make sure Black Level is turned on when playing on an HDTV. My HDTV has a HD wideband amplifier so I had to adjust the settings so it doesn't over-enhance the picture. As for Natural sound, I agree! I put in RETURN OF THE KING, STEALTH(this movie is mediocre, but the video/sound is great), WAR OF THE WORLDS, SPL, SHINOBI HEART UNDER BLADE and AZUMI with the DTS audio track and WHOA! It sound and looks amazing!! I put the same dvds on my friend's player hooked up with HDMI to a JVC HDTV, and well, let's just say, he said the movies looked much better in my system.

It costs around $ 145.00 for this dvd player, It is worth every penny!!

Customer Review 1 : POOR PRODUCT - Dorothy Olson -
I would never recommend this DVD player.
My biggest complaint is probably that it broke down in less than 2 years.
The buttons are confusing, the return scan impossible at times and worse of all the SOUND SYSTEM is very poor.
SHAME on YAMAHA!!!

Customer Review 2 : WARNING!!!! - Justin K. Hamlin - Tulsa, OK USA
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! Although it is great when it works, it mysteriously breaks down after light to moderate use, without warning, within a year of purchase. The manufacturer's warranty is only 6 months, and they don't cover it unless you bought it from an "authorized dealer," which Amazon is not. RIPOFF!!!!!!
